1. WeSwapBooks is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the security of any personal information received from you. We strictly adhere to the requirements of the data protection legislation. The purpose of this statement is to explain to you what personal information we collect and how we may use it.
2. When you register we need to know your name, address and email address. This allows us to process and fulfil the swapping process. You have the option to withhold personal information that isn’t required for the swap process.
3. We will email you when another member raises a swap request, confirms/rejects your swap request, confirms/rejects a swap or information to complete a swap (for instance the other members postal address for delivery of the book). If you have no active books with WeSwapBooks and you have not raised a swap request on another member’s book, then we will not email you.
4. In order to complete the swap process we are required to provide other WeSwapBooks member, with whom you have previously agreed to swap books, with your name and your address to enable them to have adequate information to send your book to you. In order to protect privacy you can supply us with only part of your name (e.g. an initial) or use a pseudonym if you wish. Please note we may provide another member with your email address if there has been a problem with a swap.
5. We will not sell, rent or exchange your personal information with any third party for commercial reasons beyond the essential requirement for fulfilling the swap. We never publish any of your personal information on the site. We inform other WeSwapBooks members, with whom you have agreed to swap books, of your name and address by email.
6. We follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us. This is in order to prevent unauthorised access in accordance with the UK data protection legislation. We do not collect sensitive information about you except when you specifically knowingly provide it. In order to maintain the accuracy of our database, you can check and/or update your membership details within your member section or by emailing us at help@weswapbooks.com
7. We send to your web browser many of the advertisements you see when you use WeSwapBooks. However, we also allow other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to serve advertisements within our web pages.
Because your web browser must request these advertising banners from the ad network Web site, these companies can send their own cookies to your cookie file, just as if you had requested a web page from the site. We only authorise our third-party ad servers to employ anonymous cookies for ad delivery and anonymous targeting. Our third-party ad servers do not collect, nor do we give them access, to any personally identifying information about our members.
8. If you want to prevent a third-party ad server from sending and reading cookies on your computer, currently you must visit each ad network's Web site individually and opt out (if they offer this capability). Currently, we have relationships with two third-party ad networks: TradeDoubler, Google AdWords.
